ABSTRACT

The authors describe the effectiveness of the midface lift operation as a primary or adjunctive procedure in perioral rejuvenation. In this series, during the past 4 years, 32 patients with ages ranging from 36 to 71 years have undergone this operation. The technique employed in this group of patients is detailed with the primary concern given to improving the sagging of the lateral oral commissure and the associated early marionette lines, the increased depth of the nasolabial furrows, and anterior jowling all part of perioral aging. The advantages and disadvantages of this midface lift are discussed together with a select group of patients who have undergone this surgery.
